Rovers urged to be on guard against Wasps

Boss McGlynn refusing to take bottom side for granted

- IAIN COLLIN

Raith Rovers are one win away from ensuring they cannot be caught by Fife rivals Dunfermline in the race for a promotion play-off place.

The Stark’s Park men sit two points clear in second in the Championship with just three games remaining.

The Pars are seven points further back and in danger of missing out on the play-offs.

The Kirkcaldy men face struggling Alloa tomorrow – but boss John McGlynn is wary of the Wasps outfit who are eight points adrift at the bottom but not yet arithmetically consigned to League One.

He said: “We can’t take anything for granted at all going into the game.

“They’re fighting for their lives, they’re not officially relegated, so they’ll still be hanging on to the hope they can get away from that bottom position. So, we’ve got to guard against them. They’ve come off the back of a 6-0 loss at Tynecastle and no one likes that.

“So, I’ve no doubt Peter Grant will have asked for a response from his players and the players’ pride will be coming out and they’ll be wanting to make amends for that.

“So, once again, we need to make sure our attitude’s right and that we don’t underestimate them and give them every bit of respect.”

The disciplinary hearing regarding veteran defender Iain Davidson’s alleged abuse of Inverness attacker Nikolay Todorov has been adjourned until a later date.

A short session took place yesterday afternoon and saw representatives of Raith Rovers and the Caley Jags given an introduction to the procedures that will be followed while adjudicating on the case.

A date for the hearing to continue is expected to be set imminently.
