Young’s rallying call as Fifers seek boost

-

East Fife manager Darren Young has called on everyone to stick together ahead of their game at home to Peterhead.

The Fifers sit bottom of League One after a winless start to the season, but Young is confident their luck can soon change, saying: “It was definitely another frustrating one against Montrose last week.

“It was probably just disappointing because we had a good three or four chances to go ahead and then we were undone by one poor pass and they broke away and scored.

“We then had another two or three chances to equalise which we didn’t take and then lose another poor goal, so it is not a good combination to be gifting teams goals and then being unable to finish off chances.

“I would be more concerned if we were not creating any chances but that isn’t the issue, once we get that cutting edge we will be fine.

“We just need to stick together and hopefully the fans back us, they got right behind us last week and hopefully they can see we are trying to do the right things.”

Young added: “Peterhead is never an easy game. Jim McInally has his boys well drilled and they make it hard for any team.

“They’ve played pretty well recently and you always know Scott Brown will do well in the middle of the park and Russell McLean can cause you issues up top.

“We know what to expect from them but we are well aware there are no easy games in this league, as results across the board have shown.”

Kyle Connell and Michael Cunningham are the latest additions to the East Fife injury list and join Danny Swanson and Ross Davidson on the treatment table, but Young should be able to welcome back Stewart Murdoch.
