Safety specialist to double workforce after £30m deal
ADundee safety and data systems specialist will double its workforce after securing a £30 million contract.
Panacea Fire, Security and Data will hire 25 new staff on the back of its latest deal.
The firm will make Dundee the hub for the distribution, installation and maintenance of a fall detection sensor.
Israeli company Vayyar has created the Vayyar Home system, which can instantly detect falls and monitor wellbeing.
Managing director Billy Hosie is “over the moon” about the deal.
“It is absolutely our biggest contract ever, it’s huge for us,” he says.
“There are not many times in your working life you can be involved in a project of this size, where you have a brand-new product with a new marketplace.
“I’ve had some sleepless nights, but we’re looking forward to getting started.”
Panacea is the only company to sell, install and maintain the system in the UK and Europe.
The Vayyar Home is a sensor that monitors movement and builds a 3D image of a room.
An alarm will go off if the sensor detects a fall, without the need to press a button or pull a chord to alert care staff or family members.
The sensor can also monitor respiration and send out an alert if there are changes to the user’s breathing.
It can be installed in any home or care home, and the user can set up emergency contacts to be alerted of falls.
All the data from the Vayyar Home goes into a cloud Panacea will run from Dundee.
Mr Hosie says: “We can check changes and reconfigure a system set up anywhere from Dundee.
“A lot of the new jobs will be tied up to the cloud system.
“This deal is huge and it’s good for the economy in area.”
Panacea has just installed the first system in a home in Scotland and will have the monitoring station running by the first week of December.
Panacea Fire, Security and Data has enjoyed rapid growth and currently has 29 staff.
