Thainstone boosts its eco-credentials with extra EV chargers

-

The ANM Group has boosted its sustainability credentials by installing an additional nine electric vehicle charging points at its Thainstone Centre.

The investment brings the mart group’s total number of chargers to 17, making it among the largest providers of electric vehicle charging points in the north-east.

The new chargers are for the plug-in hybrid and electric vehicle fleet used by the auctioneers and procurement team when canvassing.

They are also available for staff to use during working hours.

There are eight points at the Inverurie venue that are also available to the public at 30p kw/hr with members of the cooperative charged at a reduced rate of 20p kw/ hr.

Other sustainable measures introduced at Thainstone include solar panels and a biomass system for the group’s heating and hot water, while waste will be handled more efficiently with the installation of waste recycling and compactor facilities on site.

ANM chief executive Grant Rogerson believes the moves are vital.

He said: “Investing in our future is key to ANM Group’s values.

“In our 150th year we have launched our #ANMBeyond150 campaign, that will highlight the good work that is already under way in the industry to tackle the climate challenge head on and future-proof the industry for the next generations.

“As one of the few businesses in Aberdeenshire to host 17 electric charging points, we are delighted to be at the forefront helping to build an infrastructure for hybrid electric vehicles and continuing to support our sustainability plans for the next 150 years.”
