BOXING

Glenrothes professional cruiserweight boxer Nathan Leevers will face a vastly more experienced opponent when he has his second professional contest in Inverness on Friday. Facing Leevers, who won his only professional bout so far, at the Drumossie Hotel is Latvian Edgar Sneidza.

Sneidza’s last contest was a points loss to Billy Hutchinson who recently lost in his attempt to win the British light-heavyweight crown.

The Latvian has also gone the distance with British light-heavy champion Felix Cash and highly-rated Hosea Burton.

Leevers’ manager Stevie McGuire said: “We’re looking forward to what will be a good test for Nathan. We’ll see where we go after this contest. It’s one step at a time.”
