Piers Morgan footage captures Dunhill Links supergroup performing hits

A St Andrews supergroup performed some of their best known hits at a Dunhill dinner party on Saturday.

Ronan Keating joined Keane frontman Tom Chaplin and Genesis legend Mike Rutherford to entertain guests at the black tie event, pictured.

And Hollywood star Bill Murray was also filmed on stage delivering a performance of his own.

The famous names had been taking part in the four-day Dunhill Links Championship in St Andrews, Kingsbarns and Carnoustie.

The annual party next to the Old Course marks the eve of the tournament’s final day of play. It followed the fireworks display.

Footage shot by TV star Piers Morgan and posted on his Instagram account shows Chaplin belting out an incredible rendition of the 1978 Genesis hit Follow You Follow Me.

And he is accompanied on guitar by Rutherford, who co-wrote the song with band members Phil Collins and Tony Banks.

The clip shows Boyzone favourite Keating, now co-host of The One Show on the BBC, performing backing vocals.

Chaplin also performed his group’s anthem Somewhere Only We Know, to the delight of the crowd.

And Bill Murray sang a version of the Irish ballad Star of the County Down.

Singer Huey Lewis and Bon Jovi drummer Tico Torres are also regulars on stage at the event.

Speaking to Dunhill officials beforehand, Keating said everyone always looked forward to the party.

He said: “All of us get together – Tico Torres on drums, Mike Rutherford on guitar.

“It’s crazy, a crazy bunch of cats.

“Bill Murray gets up and does something and Tom Chaplin.”

Keating, making his 11th appearance at the tournament, added: “I feel very lucky to get the invite.

We all do, as amateurs. There’s nothing like it when you’re teeing off on the Old Course.

“The pros go first then the names are announced. You’re standing against the wall and it goes quiet.

“Your knees go, your hands get clammy and it’s like – please just swing slow and go down the middle.

“It’s a really special event for us.”
