McGlynn is named PFA boss of year
Dundee manager Tony Docherty missed on a top award last night after Falkirk’s John McGlynn was named PFA Scotland Manager of the Year by his peers following a sensational season.
The 62-year-old former Raith Rovers manager led the Bairns to an unbeaten League One campaign as champions and secured promotion to the Championship.
McGlynn’s side won 27 and drew nine of their 36 games, with a late Brad Spencer penalty earning a 2-2 draw at home to Alloa in the final game of the season.
The award is in association with the Scottish Managers and Coaches Association.
Docherty, who has led the Dark Blues to a top-six spot in the Premiership and has them chasing a place in Europe, was joined on the shortlist by Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes.
Rangers boss Jo Potter has been named PFA Scotland Scottish Women’s Premier League One Manager of the Year.
The Light Blues, who won the Sky Sports Cup earlier in the season, are vying with Old Firm rivals Celtic at the top of the league ahead of their meeting today and are in the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup final against Hearts at Hampden Park.
Former England international Potter joined Rangers last June.
The other nominees were Grant Scott of Hibernian and Brian Graham of Partick Thistle although the Jags boss, who doubles as a striker for the Maryhill men’s side, was named PFA Scotland Championship Player of the Year.
Falkirk winger Callumn Morrison was named PFA Scotland League One Player of the Year, with 34-yearold Stenhousemuir defender Gregor Buchanan landing the League Two award.
