Goalie Boruc looks to the future as Lichties loan contract expires

-

Max Boruc admits he is unsure what his future holds after his loan spell at Arbroath came to an end with last Friday’s 5-0 defeat at Raith Rovers.

The Polish stopper made 13 appearances during his time with the Red Lichties but was unable to help them avoid relegation to League One.

Boruc joined Hibernian from Slask Wroclaw last summer, making appearances from the bench in the Europa Conference League and Edinburgh derby shortly after his arrival at Easter Road.

Despite his time at Gayfield not going to plan in terms of results, he believes the experience of his time with the club will stand him in good stead for the future.

“It makes you stronger mentally, a bad spell is equally as important as a good one,” he said.

“It prepares you for the future and obviously in football you are going to have bad spells whether that’s individually or with the team.

“Of course it’s disappointing. Going to Arbroath, I knew what type of situation they were in, how many injuries they had and how tough it would be to get out of the relegation zone.

“However, I always believed in the team and believed we could do it – unfortunately, it didn’t happen.

“From my own perspective, I’m happy, I’ve played a lot of games and gained a lot of experience, so it’s been a very good and important loan spell for me.

“I didn’t expect to play a few games with Hibs, that was a very proud moment for me, and playing in front of thousands of fans, playing in Europe and the Edinburgh derby.

“It was quite a rollercoaster from playing in Europe to a relegation battle with Arbroath. That’s what football is all about, I really enjoyed this season as a whole, There were a lot of really good things for me.”

Now that his time in Angus is over Boruc, who has continued to train with Hibs, will return to the capital before having the chance to reset during the summer break.

He confesses to being unsure about his future plans, though has taken confidence from playing regular top-team football for the first time in his senior career.

“I enjoyed the loan spell, I think it’s now a well-deserved rest, going back home and going on holiday in the summer,” he added.

“I’ll then reset and prepare for the next season. I don’t know what’s next for me – I’ll take it as it comes and I’m quite confident about my future.

“I’ve enjoyed playing regular football. I’ve had ups and downs, a lot of very good stuff, a lot of great saves and great games – from my point of view, it’s been a good loan spell.”
