-

C OW D E N B E AT H manager Colin Cameron yesterday agreed terms with Spanish defender Ruben Garcia Rey who had been with third divisionTorremolinos last season.

The Beath boss — looking to add to his squad before their step up to the First Division — moved quickly to snap up the 26-year-old, who can also play in midfield, after he had impressed on trial with the Fifers.

Now the Central Park outfit are hoping to get the necessary international clearance arranged before the end of this week.

Cameron said: “Ruben is very comfortable on the ball at centre half or in a holding midfield role and he is certainly going to benefit our squad. We have agreed terms and it is now just about getting the paper work sorted out.”

Garcia Rey will become Cowden’s second summer signing. Last month, Cameron clinched a deal to sign midfielder Jamie Stevenson from Airdrie and he is planning to bring in a number of other players.

Cowdenbeath scored a 3-2 win over East of Scotland side Selkirk in the Borders last night with new signing Jamie Stevenson from Airdrie grabbing the winner two minutes from the end.

Selkirk had taken a 2-0 lead in the second half with a double from Jamie Gibson.

But Lewis Coult had the Fifers level with two well taken goals in 58 and 75 minutes before Stevenson struck the winner.
