Two appear in court on stun gun charges

-

TWO YOUNG Dundee men accused of giving a schoolgirl an electric shock with a stun gun have appeared in private at the city’s sheriff court.

The incident is alleged to have happened at a secondary school in May last year. It is not known if the girl was injured.

Danny Cruickshank (19), Honeygreen Road, appeared in private before Sheriff Tom Hughes on Monday on a petition alleging possession of an electric stun gun between May 2 and 5 2011, at a Dundee secondary school, at Salton Crescent and Honeygreen Road and elsewhere in Dundee unknown.

Co-accused Ed Francis McHugh (16), Whitfield Square, appeared in private before Sheriff Richard Davidson yesterday on a petition alleging possession of an electric stun gun on May 3 2011 at the school.

Both are also accused of, on May 3 2011, at the secondary school, culpably and recklessly discharging a firearm, namely an electric stun gun, activating the device and causing an electric shock to a girl who was under 16 .

Neither made any plea or declaration and both were granted bail while the case was continued for further examination.

It is understood the girl was a pupil at the school and the matter was reported to the police and investigated at the time, with a report sent to the procurator fiscal.
