Schmooze can end Luctor’s run Selections

- The Ferret

KEITH DALGLEISH’S Luctor Emergo racked up a hat trick of wins on soft ground atAyr and is bidding to extend that sequence to four in the mile-and-a-half Cornhill Builders Handicap at Musselburgh, but conditions will be altogether different today.

A big danger could be lurking at the bottom of the handicap in the shape of Linda Perratt’s SCHMOOZE, who has been a model of consistency this season and is overdue to get her head in front.

David Barron’s COSMIC CHATTER found the Windsor Castle Stakes a bit hot finishing 11th of the 23 runners but will appreciate the drop in class at the Edinburgh course today and can land the conditions stakes.

Sir Mark Prescott’s Liber finished a few places ahaead of Cosmic Chatter down at Royal Ascot but Barron’s charge can gain revenge today.

Jockeys, stalls handlers and starters alike will be holding their breath when The Bear BRIGHTON 2.10 Hajam, 2.40 Simple Rhythm, 3.10 Kingswinford, 3.40 Night Trade, 4.10 Dance For Georgie, 4.40 Scarlett Fever, 5.10 Laser Blazer. MUSSELBURGH 2.00 American Impact, 2.30 Schmooze, 3.00 Cosmic Chatter, 3.30 Royal Bonsai, 4.00 Green Howard, 4.30 Arriva La Diva, 5.00 Military Call.

DOUBLE: KINGSDESIRE and SCHMOOZE. makes a return to the fray after nearly twoyears out with a broken pelvis in the fivefurlong handicap.

To say Linda Perratt’s nine-year-old has a mind of his own is the understatement of the month and it will be interesting to see how he behaves on his first outing since passing a stalls test recently as on a going day he had ability and he has stormed to a few victories here on fast ground.

Only time will tell whether he can keep it together.

HAJAM was all at sea on soft ground most recently but a return to quicker terrain at Brighton should aid him in the British Stallion Studs Supporting British Racing EBF Maiden Stakes.

His recent effort is best ignored and he is much better judged on his creditable fiveand-and-a-half-length beating at the hands of Glorious Goodwood winner Heavy Metal.

That horse subsequently landed the Richmond Stakes at Goodwood and a repeat of that form should put Hajam right in the mix.
