Range of new skills to get 2013 off to great start

-

THE NEW year will prove an ideal time to learn new skills for Perth residents.

The Pathways Learning Centre on South Street is offering a wide range of courses, starting in January.

Among the activities available is an eight-week Welcome to Computing introduction to simple PC skills.

It will cover mouse and keyboard skills, word processing and making the most of the internet, as well as using spreadsheets for keeping up to date with household accounts.

For those with a bit more experience, the Carry On Computing course covers sending attachments via email and internet safety.

The Pathways programme also features two digital photography classes, one aimed at complete beginners and the other at an intermediate level.

Students will learn how to take and manipulate images, as well as download and save image files.

There is more on offer other than technology, and those who have been inspired by programmes such as The Great British Bake Off can turn their hand to home baking and cake decorating.

An expert tutor will provide bakers with the skills to create birthday and novelty cakes by showing them how to work with fondant and buttercream icing.
