Camperdown victory takes Love closer to 100 races

CRAIG LOVE (Dundee Hawkhill) edged ever nearer to 100 races completed in 2012 by winning the Camperdown Parkrun 5km, his ninth win over the course in 15 appearance­s.

The over- 40 veteran clocked 18 minutes 31 seconds over the hilly course, just 27 seconds shy of his personal best for the circuit.

Camperdown was the Hawkhill athlete’s third race in four days having placed sixth at the Nebit Moonrace on Wednesday and second at the Nightmare #2 race at St Andrews on Thursday.

Dundee Road Runner Sarah Winter placed fifth overall, first female, in 22 minutes 47 seconds just holding off the challenge of junior athlete Christy Dailly (Chelmsford AC) in sixth, a further 12 seconds back.

Christy, coached by her father, former Dundee United football star Christian Dailly, the speed/sprint coach with Chelmsford, has a Parkrun best of 20.30 from the Southend event.

The Craigtoun Parkrun 5km event at St Andrews saw Brian Cruickshan­k (FifeAC) register his eighth win in 21 appearance­s over the three lap circuit.

Cruickshan­k timed at 18 minutes 39 seconds – 17 seconds down on his personal best – had 57 seconds to spare over runner-up Tony Martin, second over60 at the UK Road 5km Championsh­ips in October.

Kirsty Scott (Dundee Hawkhill) placed eighth overall, first female, posting a new personal best of 20 minutes 20 seconds.

Impressive times were recorded at the Edinburgh Parkrun 5km at Cramond/ S i l ve r k n owe s wh e r e Andrew Douglas (Inverclyde) headed 229 runners clocking 15 minutes 25 seconds.

He was chased in by Neil Renault (Edinburgh AC) in 16.00.
