Gable Endies looking to closethegap

-

MONTRO S E BOS S Stuart Garden hopes his team can master the conditions at Annan this afternoon as the Gable Endies aim to close the gap on the top four.

Garden’s men are just five points behind Stirling Albion who occupy the final promotion play-off spot, although the Links Park boss admits last weekend’s 0-0 draw at home to the Binos was an opportunity missed.

Having said that, both teams were probably fortunate that they managed to finish the game and get a point in the bag.

“If I’m going to be honest, the game could well have been abandoned last week,” said Garden.

“Every time you put the ball down for a place kick it would move and you couldn’t really play football in those conditions, so credit to both teams for trying.

“A goal-less draw was probably the right result in the end and we’ve just got to look forward to trying to take something down inAnnan.”

Annan themselves saw their game at Peterhead abandoned after just 21 minutes with the score goal-less last week, and they will be hoping the blustery conditions forecast today will not cause too many problems.

Garden will have midfielder Terry Masson suspended for the trip south, while it looks like on-loan Dundee United defender Luke Johnston could again miss out due to a troublesome groin injury.
