Climate change action at PRI

-

TWO TREES were planted in the grounds of Perth Royal Infirmary to mark NHS Sustainability Day.

Supported by NHS Tayside, it is an annual event to encourage healthcare organisations to take action on climate change.

The campaign, which has been dubbed 2@2, urges participants to plant at least two trees at 2pm and is run by the NHS Forest charity.

Head of environment management Philip Wilde said: “Planting the Scots pine trees in the grounds of NHS Tayside sites not only benefits the environment for patients and visitors but it shows NHS Tayside’s commitment to improving sustainability.

“Ever yone can be involved in making positive changes to their habits which can minimise their impact on the environment. Together we can make a significant difference to our future.”

NHS Tayside also runs a Care to Save campaign, based on four key green themes— energy, transport, recycling and sustainability.

It urges members of staff to make small changes, such as switching off appliances when they are not being used, and recycling.
