“IT WAS a rarity for me, scoring a goal like that, so it was a really nice feeling,” said Davidson.

“I was delighted to put that one away, especially as it turned out to be the winner. Hopefully, I can chip in with a few more between now and the end of the season.

“The main thing for me, though, was that it helped the team pick up three vital points.

“It is not about individuals and all I was hoping for was a victory over a tough Queen of the South side.

“They finished the first half strongly but I tried to drivetheladsforwardafter the break and it worked. We had momentum, more intensity and played at a higher tempo and were deserved winners in the end.”

The third-placed Bairns sit nine points behind Dundee with only six games remaining.

It would require a remarkable collapse by the Dark Blues and Hamilton to let them back in the race but Davidson insists they will still pose a danger this afternoon.

“As long as we keep winning that’s what matters,” he said.

“We know the task in front of us and six wins gets us the league. It’s easier said than done, though.

“We now have a tough game against Falkirk and they will still feel they can have a big say in the title race.

“They are a few points behind us but they are a good side and dangerous opponents.

“We haven’t beaten them this season so that’s another incentive for us to go out and win.”

“All you can do is concentrate on your own game,” he said.

“The way I see it, you can’t influence results elsewhere so you shouldn’t worry about them.”
