GREA T BRITA IN’s A ly Dixon surprised herself as she produced a personal best to finish 18th at the World Half Marathon Championships, held in Copenhagen on Saturday.
The 35-year-old pushed her claims for a marathon place in E n g l a n d ’s Commonwealth Games team this summer as she finished in one hour 10 minutes and 38 seconds.
Fellow Briton Susan Partridge, on the recovery trail after a long-term achilles injury, was 40th with a time of 1:13.16.
The Scot was 10th in the marathon at last year’sWorld Championships and has already been selected for the Commonwealth Games.
In the men’s event Ben Moreau was the only Briton in action, claiming a seasonbest 1:04.09 to finish in 64th.
The gold medals were scooped by Kenya.
Geoffrey Kamworor (59:08) won the men’s title. Gladys Cherono (1:07:29) headed a Kenyan one-twothree in the women’s race.
