GREA T BRITA IN’s A ly Dixon surprised herself as she produced a personal best to finish 18th at the World Half Marathon Championsh­ips, held in Copenhagen on Saturday.

The 35-year-old pushed her claims for a marathon place in E n g l a n d ’s Commonweal­th Games team this summer as she finished in one hour 10 minutes and 38 seconds.

Fellow Briton Susan Partridge, on the recovery trail after a long-term achilles injury, was 40th with a time of 1:13.16.

The Scot was 10th in the marathon at last year’sWorld Championsh­ips and has already been selected for the Commonweal­th Games.

In the men’s event Ben Moreau was the only Briton in action, claiming a seasonbest 1:04.09 to finish in 64th.

The gold medals were scooped by Kenya.

Geoffrey Kamworor (59:08) won the men’s title. Gladys Cherono (1:07:29) headed a Kenyan one-twothree in the women’s race.
