Thief is jailed for stealing keys

A MAN has been jailed for four months for stealing two sets of keys,

John Sword, 37, admitted taking the items from a property on Perth’s Scott Street on March 30.

The theft caused the owner to change his locks, at a cost of £200.

A set of keys for a Mercedes car we r e recovered but Sword told police he had dropped the second set down a drain.

Solicitor Pauline Cullerton, defending, said Sword had recently been released from a custodial sentence.

Sentencing him, Sheriff William Wood told Sword, of Princes Street, Perth, that he had no option but to send him back to jail.

Russell Cameron appeared at Perth Sheriff Court yesterday where he admitted taking protein powder from the Perth branch of Boots on March 30.

Depute fiscal Robbie Brown told the court the powder was worth £50.

Pa u l i n e Cullerton, defending, said Cameron, of South Methven Street, Perth, had committed the theft after being unable to obtain a food parcel.

The 27-year-old was remanded in custody and sentence was deferred until Thursday.
