Driver dies after crash at accident blackspot
A 63-YEAR-OLD man was killed in a crash at an accident blackspot on the A9 nearAuchterarder on Sunday afternoon.
He suffered fatal injuries after his car left the dual carriageway on a stretch of road that has become notorious with motorists.
Paramedics and members of the public battled to save his life but the man,who lived near Aberdeens, was pronounced dead after arriving at Perth Royal Infirmary.
A spokesman for Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We attended a road traffic accident at around 2.26pm.
“Oneambulanceattendedandtransported a casualty to hospital.”
Officers from Police Scotland confirmed they are investigating the collision but no other vehicles are thought to be involved.
A spokeswoman said: “At about 2.20pm onMay25, aone-vehicleroadtrafficcollision occurred on the A9 Perth to Stirling dual carriageway, near to its junction with the
WEATHER A824 Aberuthven to Auchterarder road. Despite the best efforts of the public and medical staff at the scene, the driver and only occupant was pronounced dead upon arrival at Perth Royal Infirmary.
“The deceased, a 63-year-old male who resides in the Aberdeen area, is still to be formally identified by next of kin.”
The A9/A824 junction at Auchterarder has been the scene of several serious and fatal collisions in recent years.
