Jack the Ripper’s appearance on Perthshire stage

-

IN 1888, the streets of London were haunted by a brutal killer who preyed on women.

There is still a mystery sur rounding Jack t he Ripper and a new play hopes to get people thinking about the events of the time.

Performing arts duo Isosceles will present their chilling drama, Yours Truly, Jack the Ripper, at Pitlochry Festival Theatre next month.

Following a successful UK theatre tour, Patrick Prior’s version of the haunting murders will revisit the story in an intriguing and unique way.

It looks at the case through the eyes of the commissioner of t he Metropolitan Police as he recounts the weeks when the residents of Whitechapel lived through a reign of terror.

The production uses the words of actual witnesses in the case in a bid to evoke the social and political tensions of the time, along with the growing panic that surrounded the murders.

This will be underscored by music of the period to bring Jack the Ripper back to life for one evening.

The performance takes place on June 3 at 8pm.
