Registrati­on opens for Flotilla on Forth event

REGISTRATI­ON HAS opened for the Flotilla on the Forth, one of the highlights of the Forth Bridges Festival which will mark the 50th birthday of the Forth Road Bridge.

Theevent, starting at noon on Sunday September 7, will bring boating fans together to create a floating spectacula­r on the river.

Vessels large and small will form the flotilla which has already attracted naval ships, tugboats, yachts and the Reaper — the famous Fife herring drifter museum ship.

While the event is free and open to all, places are limited and early registrati­on a t w w w. f o r t h b r i d g e s festival.com/flotilla-entry is recommende­d.

The flotilla, which is followed by a barbecue for participan­ts at Port Edgar Marina, promises to be a great day out for all the family — with a range of entertainm­ent for spectators and participan­ts.

There will be a food and drink market during the day and visitors can also enjoy a variety of festival activities, from art exhibition­s and installati­ons to historic walks in the area.

TheForth Bridges Festival is being organised by the Forth Estuary Transport Authority in partnershi­p with Queensferr­yAmbition.

It is a signature event in the Year of Homecoming, and will be funded using revenue from the sale of 2,014 trips to the top of the Forth Road Bridge this summer.
