Dundee United launch probe into Lukasz Zaluska incident
DUNDEE UNITED have launched an internal investigation into the alleged role of two of its players in an incident that left the club’s former goalkeeper Lukasz Zaluska with facial injuries.
In a statement on the club’s website, a spokesperson said: “Dundee United FC has commenced an internal investigation into the conduct of two of its players following information received by the club.
“The club will make no further comment at this stage.”
Zaluska was left with two black eyes following an incident in the West End of Glasgow in the early hours of Monday.
After the announcement of the probe, the police could not provide further comment into the case.
Dundee United player Mark Wilson was pictured with Celtic goalkeeper Zaluska and St Mirren midfielder Jim Goodwin near Ashton Lane in Glasgow following an attack on Zaluska.
Wilson yesterday claimed he tried to “calm a matter down”.
The 30-year-old released a statement through a spokesperson, which read: “There has been a lot of publicity surrounding events on Sunday night in Ashton Lane.
“Mark Wilson would like to clarify matters regarding himself.
“Mark was out for a meal with his wife and some other couples. On his way home with his wife, they came across his friend and former team-mate Lukasz Zaluska.
“Mark tried to calm a matter down and latterly to help Lukasz as he was in a distressed situation.”
Yesterday Celtic manager Ronny Deila expressed his sympathy for Zaluska, following his goalkeeper’s “scary” experience.
Ahead of the club’s Europa League clash with Astra tonight, Deila said: “I have talked with Lukasz and I’m sorry for him because it could be quite scary but in my opinion he has done nothing wrong.”
