Investment trip‘a success’
TWO POTENTIAL investors now have Perth in their sights after the city’s potential was highlighted at a national event in London.
Stuart Oliver, investment and marketing officer for Invest in Perth, and Fraser McGowan, community investment team leader for Perth and Kinross Council, attended the MIPIM UK event.
The trade show was arranged to examine the country’s most profitable investment opportunities and provided an opportunity for the pair to network with business leaders who may be looking to open a Scottish base.
The Invest in Perth initiative seeks to promote the city region as the most desirable place in Scotland to visit and in which to live, work and invest — with a particular focus on attracting new businesses into the area.
Mr Oliver and Mr McGowan believe much has been gained from their trip south.
Mr Oliver said: “During the event we arranged for two potential investors to visit Perth within the next few weeks to view some of the development opportunities we discussed with them. We would not have made these connections at this stage had we not attended the event.
“Attendance at t his event, in collaboration with our partner cities in the Scottish Cities Alliance, shows the commitment and ambition we now have in terms of encouraging new business investment in the area.
“It was a major national event attended by experts business.”
He added: “One of the most obvious benefits of events like this is that we are able to meet and network with lots of people at once, whether they are developers, investors or intermediaries.
“Fraser and I have gained a great deal from the event in terms of strategies that have worked for other cities and we made a number of connections that could be very helpful further down the line.”
