United duo dropped in wake of club investigation

-

DUNDEE UNITED manager Jackie McNamara has confirmed that the two players under investigation by the club will be left out of the squad for tomorrow’s match against Inverness Caley Thistle, writes Ian Roache.

It is understood the players concerned are midfielder Paul Paton and defender Mark Wilson.

The Tangerines boss wants nothing to distract his team from the important business of trying to win in the Highland capital in order to keep pressure on Premiership leaders HamiltonAccies.

McNamara said: “The club put out a statement and there has been no change from that.

“There is an investigation going on regarding two players so we will wait and see what the outcome of that is.

“I think it is important that we focus on the game on Saturday, for me and the rest of the players.

“For me, it is better to take them (the two men under investigation by the club) out of the limelight for this weekend, until the enquiry is resolved internally.

“It is important that we get all the facts first.

“It will be dealt with internally and then I am sure you will hear the outcome of that when it is dealt with.

“For me, the most important thing is the game on Saturday.

“That is why we are here and why the players are preparing for the match.

“The two players will be taken out of the limelight so we can focus on the game.”
