T’Pau pull out of gig as Carol Decker loses voice
ICONIC 80S act T’Pau have been forced to cancel a performance in Montrose next week after singer Carol Decker lost her voice.
The band’s lead singer had to cancel UK tour dates previously but appears to have come back too quickly and has been told to rest up.
T’Pau were due to play the Town Hall next Friday during a UK tour to promote Pleasure and Pain, which is the band’s first studio album in 15 years.
Charlie Campbell of North East Musical and Sports Promotions said: “We are deeply disappointed because the gig was heading for a sell-out and everyone was looking forward to it.
“Carol has lost her voice and damaged her vocal chords.
“She had to cancel dates in February and it looks like she has come back too soon and done more damage to her voice.
“She’s now been told to rest up.
“We are not sure when the gig will be rescheduled but we have decided to give out refunds.
“We are hopeful T’Pau will still be able to perform in Montrose later in the year.”
Carol previously admitted she thought she was heading for the Swiss Alps rather than Angus when the tour date was announced.
She told The Courier she thought she would be performing classics such as China in Your Hand in Montreux rather than Montrose.
She has been touring since 2001 but is back together again with cosongwriter Ronnie Rogers for the latest album.
