Scorers in for busy time

-

Having blown away Huntly last week and opened up the title race in the Strathmore and Perthshire North East Championship, Arbroath can justifiably claim to be involved in the match of the day this week when they take on the new league leaders at Forthill.

Both sides helped themselves to big totals last week with Arbroath’s 215 owing much to Chris Shepherd’s 55 and Mark Edwards with 50.

Forthill had three batsmen making over 40 runs so the scorers should be kept busy.

Perth Doo’cot put up 178 against Gordonians and must have thought they were in with a decent chance, but it took the visitors less than 26 overs to pass the target.

Gordonians must fancy their chances against a toiling Dundee HSFP side but the Dalnacraig men will take heart from only their second win of the season against Rossie Priory last week with Bailwal taking a vital 4-20.

Rossie will have to bounce back from that one but at the Priory they face a Meigle side with four wins from six starts and last week’s performance by the visitors will offer them little comfort.

Matthew Farmer hit an unbeaten 87 from a mere 63 balls and Rossie will let the Aussie get into his stride at their peril.

Perth Doo’cot’s curate’s egg of a season, in which they have won four from seven starts, continues against Kinloch.
