Police appeal after indecent act in Cupar

- Michael alexander

A 13-year-old girl witnessed an act of public indecency in a quiet residential Cupar street less than an hour before dozens of school and nursery children were due to descend on the area.

Police are appealing for information following the incident which occurred in the town’s Westfield Road around 8.10am on Wednesday.

The area is a back route used by children going to Bell Baxter High School, whilst the Westfield Nursery is also located on the street.

The witness said a man in a turquoise or teal small hatchback was seen carrying out an indecent act while parked on Westfield Road.

Sergeant Gary Combe of Cupar Police Station said: “This is absolutely unacceptable behaviour which occurred on a main thoroughfare during a time when members of the local community were likely to be in the area.

“It was extremely distressing for the young girl who witnessed it and we are urging anyone who has information about this incident, or who recognises the description of the vehicle, to come forward.”

Anyone with information which can help officers with their inquiries is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, or contact the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
