Aberdonian David Florence was Great Britain’s top performer on the opening day of the Canoe Slalom World Cup event in Prague.
In the first race – the men’s C1 – the two-time world champion, with two seconds of penalties, produced the fastest time and with top-20 finishes for Ryan Westley and Adam Burgess, all three boats progressed directly to the semi-finals.
Florence and Richard Hounslow later qualified for the C2 semi-finals after securing top-15 spots with Hounslow also making the men’s K1 semis with Bradley Forbes-Cryans the fastest Briton ahead of Joe Clarke.
Bethan Latham (K1) and Jasmine Royle (C1) both progressed to semi-finals in the women’s events.
