The weather clerk never lets up on Tay Week. The starting line for the Royal Tay Yacht Club’s opening regatta was bathed in warm sunshine. But the strong south-westerly wind created havoc among the dinghies. In a trice the river off West Ferry was scattered with upturned hulls and crews bobbing about in life jackets. Twenty-one dinghies started in the 13-foot Enterprise class – but only two of them finished. Damaged gear accounted for most of the retirals in that class.
