Money grab links possible
Police have not ruled out a possible link between the gang behind an Angus bank raid and a weekend ATM theft.
The cash machine at an Aberdeenshire Tesco was blown off the wall in the early hours of the morning on Saturday.
And Tayside Division “would not rule out” a link with the attack on the Royal Bank of Scotland branch in Kirriemuir seven months ago.
The Bank Street teller was targeted by three men who used gas to blast open the ATM and escaped with £100,000 on December 20.
They had turned up earlier that day outside a Co-op in Gardyne Street, Friockheim, but made off without stealing anything.
Their blue BMW 1 series car, registration number YE63 BPZ, passed through Dundee near Claverhouse Road and was last seen heading south on the A90 near Longforgan, with police giving chase along the Kingsway.
Officers recovered empty cash machine cassettes on the A928 Kirriemuir to Glamis road.
A force spokeswoman said: “Officers are working closely with other divisions and would not rule out the possibility that further reported incidents may be linked.”
