Europe’s oldest man dies

A great-grandfather thought to be Europe’s oldest man has died at the age of 111 while visiting family in India, his grandson said.

Nazar Singh, from Sunderland, and who recently celebrated his birthday, lived through two world wars, and the Great Depression.

He was born in Punjab in 1904 and lived in England for 50 years, moving in 1989 to the North East to live with one of his nine children.
