Traders bet on Greek deal

The London stock market surged as traders bet on a breakthrough at the emergency EU summit to keep Greece from falling out of the euro.

The FTSE 100 Index jumped 115.2 points to 6,825.7 amid hopes that the Greek government and its creditors will reach an agreement over its debt repayments.

Sky shares rose almost 4% after weekend reports that Rupert Murdoch and his family rejected two bids for their stake in the broadcaster, stoking speculation that they intend to make a new attempt to take full control of the firm.
