Trialists galore for Aberdeen friendly

-

Trialists will outnumber contracted players tomorrow night as new boss Darren Dods takes charge of Brechin City for the first time in a friendly against Aberdeen.

The Angus side have eight players signed up for this season but two of them, skipper Craig Molloy and keeper Graeme Smith, are unavailable as they are on honeymoon and holiday respectively.

Dods is hoping to add another permanent signing later this week but has had to call on the services of a host of trialists for the game against the Dons, who are gearing up for the first leg of their Europa League qualifier against FC Shkendija of Macedonia on July 2.

Dods said: “We will hopefully have another player signed later this week but I don’t want to say too much at the moment as there are other clubs interested in him.

“But for the Aberdeen game we will have seven or eight trialists involved.”

Meanwhile, Arbroath manager Todd Lumsden is holding a question-and-answer session in the 36-0 Lounge at Gayfield at noon on Saturday.
