Host of competitions and entertainment on offer at Kinross Show
Entrants urged to send in their application forms in good time
People are being encouraged to submit their entries for this year’s Kinross Show.
The annual event returns to RSPB Loch Leven on Saturday August 8, with a host of entertainment and competitions lined up.
This year’s main ring entertainment will include terrier racing, Kinross and District Pipe Band, a vintage tractor display and a children’s fancy dress parade.
This event is open to all youngsters – entrants can be with or without a pony.
In addition, a flower show will feature a range of children’s classes including ‘model farm in a seed tray’ and the ‘decorated welly boot’ classes.
For dog lovers, there will be the companion dog show, which has nine classes ranging from pedigree dogs to cross-breed, plus and classes for the ‘waggiest tail’ and ‘most appealing eyes’.
Only undocked dogs and legally docked dogs may enter for exhibition at the show. Judging at the dog competitions will begin at 1pm prompt.
A new poultry section will be held this year, including an egg competition and visitors can also expect to see various animals such as dairy and beef cattle, sheep, goats, poultry, Clydesdale horses and ponies.
There will also be various trade stands and SWRI and craft tents.
Judging for the poultry competitions will start at 9.15am, with judging for the flower events commencing at 10am and trophies being presented at 3.30pm.
Iain Campbell, president of Kinrossshire Agricultural Society, said: “We’re encouraging people to get their entries in as soon as possible this year – before the summer break.
“The entry deadline is Wednesday July 15, so it’s not long.
“The Kinross Show really is the perfect day out for all the family.”
Free buses will again be running this year. The buses will run around every 30 minutes from Milnathort and Kinross to the show, starting at 10.15am.
The last bus will leave the show ground at 7.15pm sharp.
Adult tickets are £10 for show ground entry, concessions are £7 and under-16s will have free entry. Parking costs £2.
