Group asks community to Take a Pride in North Muirton

-

Residents in Perth’s North Muirton are hoping the community will get behind an effort to improve the area.

They are following up the success of the formation of the North Muirton Community Council by establishing Take a Pride in North Muirton.

This group is intended to be the start of a community development trust to engage locals in making “a great place to live even better.”

Chairman Andy Hay said: “Take a Pride in North Muirton has taken a wee while to get going but the plan is quite clear, this is all about starting with community-led environmental improvements and if we can get enough support, a community development trust is entirely possible.”

The Take a Pride in North Muirton group is initially focusing on the flower beds at the Argyll Road shops.

Future projects include developing the two entrances to North Muirton to make them more welcoming.

“North Muirton is quite unique in Perth in that it is surrounded by a greenbelt and has many open spaces, great for kids and adults to enjoy,” said Mr Hay.

“If we can, as a community, develop some of these areas with floral arrangements and landscaping we can really make a difference.

“We’re calling out to local businesses and, of course, the residents to come forward to support their community – every little bit of effort and expertise helps.”

Funds are needed and any businesses considering sponsorship opportunities can get in touch with the group at www. facebook.com/takeaprideinnorthmuirton or by phoning 07990508601.
