Idealconditions for Union Rose to secure win

Ron Harris colt ready for victory after one or two near misses

is fancied to end his lengthy pursuit of victory in the Western Daily Press Handicap at Bath.

Ron Harris’ colt has not found the target since last May, but that is a slightly misleading statistic as he has turned in one or two seriously good efforts.

The three- year- old son of Stimulation most notably finished second behind Hootenanny at massive odds in the Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot last year.

Sadly for Harris, Union Rose has not yet replicated that form, but he was not beaten far in the Molecomb at Goodwood last summer.

With ground conditions just about ideal for him, it must also be remembered that Bath was the scene of a seven-length maiden cakewalk last season.

should not be discounted in the Yorkshire Outdoors Fillies’ Handicap at Thirsk.

The Keith Dalgleish-trained filly has found life tough since she won so well over five furlongs at this track last August. That said, she has now slipped to a pretty appealing mark to anticipate a decent spin at this level.

With her aptitude to tackle this seven-furlong trip seemingly assured, she must have a fine chance back at a track which plays to her strengths.

Hulcolt flew home at Beverley last time and will be much fitter than on that comeback effort in the Sandra Evison Memorial Handicap back on the Westwood.
