Sneijder considers United offer
Dutch midfielder Rodney Sneijder has said he is mulling over an offer from Dundee United after joining them on trial in the Netherlands.
Sneijder – the younger brother of Holland superstar Wesley – played 15 minutes of the Tangerines’ game against AZ Alkmaar on Tuesday and is considering signing for the Tannadice club.
He said: “Dundee United like me so have made me an offer.
“I have said I am going to think about it.
“I first want to consult with my family and just take time to think it over.
“I actually have not had a vacation but I had to get these days of training with the team.
“I think Scottish football would suit me well – I feel appreciated here.”
Sneijder will play the bulk of tonight’s final Dutch tour friendly against Utrecht
Meanwhile, United remain determined to sign Wigan striker Billy McKay and are expected to make a third bid for the Northern Ireland international.
The Tangerines are beginning to really crank up their recruitment drive and the plan is to have two or three new faces at the club by next week.
McKay is still on the wanted list despite the Latics having already knocked back two bids from United.
The latest offer tabled by chairman Stephen Thompson was in excess of £100,000 and the Tangerines are determined to keep going until they get the former Inverness Caley Thistle man.
United have also been showing an interest in ex-St Mirren man John McGinn.
McGinn is in the US trying to secure a deal with Houston Dynamo but if that doesn’t work out then Tannadice could be his next destination.
The 20-year-old midfielder would cost money as, although he is a free agent, the Buddies would be due a development fee.
