Lichties boss hopes to bring down the Binos
Lumsden predicts tough encounter with in-form Albion
Arbroath travel to Forthbank today looking to end Stirling Albion’s six-game unbeaten run.
Lichties manager Todd Lumsden admitted the Binos are “doing well at the moment” and noted they had only conceded two goals during the six games.
“It will be a tough game to win and whilst it is an opportunity to climb the table at their expense I do not think you can read too much into positions yet,” he said.
“We have lost only twice in seven games and are sitting second bottom but that is not second bottom form.
“The league is so tight that you could actually focus on the fact that we are sitting four points off third place as opposed to our position.”
Fans of Lumsden’s side will certainly be hoping for better luck with refereeing decisions today after Elgin scored two offside goals a fortnight ago and Arbroath were denied what looked like a certain penalty at a crucial stage in the 1-1 draw with East Fife last weekend.
Lumsden is however just looking to improve his own side’s performance.
“We could moan about the referee’s decision but there is no point,” he said.
“I have to be honest and say that we had enough chances to win and didn’t take them.
“It was a game of two halves where East Fife had the better of the first where we could not contain the two players they played just off the main striker.
“We changed our shape and got on top of them and they changed things to counter that. Their manager Gary Naysmith and I agreed that a point apiece was right.”
Andy Ryan has dropped out of things after his loan spell from Hamilton Accies came to an end, but the Gayfield manager is boosted by the availability of Kane Hester and Jamie Reid for substitute roles after injury.
