Trio in court following wedding

-

The father-of-the-bride and her step-brother spent the weekend behind bars after being arrested in connection with a brawl at a Perthshire country club wedding.

They were arrested and held in custody along with a 17-yearold man who was also allegedly involved in the fracas at the Moness Hotel and Country Club, near Aberfeldy.

Step-brother James Simpson, 26, and the teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, both appeared from custody at Perth Sheriff Court sporting black eyes yesterday.

Simpson and the bride’s father Ronald Lyon, 46, were arrested along with the teenager on Sunday after hotel staff called the police for help.

Simpson admitted he shouldn’t have been at the wedding because he was on a court curfew relating to a previous case and was supposed to be home from 7pm every night at his home in Aviemore’s Braeriach Court.

He also admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner at the hotel and country club complex by engaging in a fight. Ronald Lyon and the 17-year-old both pled not guilty to a single charge of engaging in a stand-up fight at Moness and causing fear or alarm. They were granted bail and all three were banned from entering Aberfeldy as a condition of bail. Lyon, who shares a home with Simpson, and the 17-year-old – also from Aviemore – will go on trial in March next year. Sentence on Simpson was deferred.
