United have no room for error in relegation fight, says Fraser

-

Dundee United players have a points total in mind that they believe will earn them Premier League safety.

But Scott Fraser admitted there isn’t much room for error.

The Tangerines are looking to build on their morale-boosting victory against Hearts on Saturday by following it up with another three points in Dingwall.

The young midfielder didn’t reveal the magic number United have identified but acknowledged :“It means winning games. We have to take things a game at a time and keep chipping away to get the gap down.

“We have a points total in our head that we believe can keep us up and we have to get there. It means winning games.

“Unfortunately we didn’t do that against Motherwell, but we beat Hearts and now we go to Ross County on Saturday and we will do all we can to make sure we get another win.”

Consistency is now required from United but that has been infuriatingly hard to come by for Mixu Paatelainen’s men this season.

Fraser said: “The frustrating thing is when we play the way we did against Hearts we can show what we’re capable of. It should not matter where the opposition are in the league because we know we have the ability to beat anyone.

“So for us it has to be a cup final mentality from now on. We have 12 cup finals in the league and we will go into them all up for the fight.”

Meanwhile, manager Paatelainen is hopeful that both Guy Demel and Florent Sinama-Pongolle will be available for the County match.
