Clubber knocked out stranger for comments on sister’s bottom

-

A clubber knocked out a stranger after taking offence to comments the victim made about his sister’s bottom.

William Crook, 43, passed a complimentary remark regarding the 19-year-old girl’s rear but Shane Taylor was furious about the coarse tone of what he said.

Taylor, 23, threw a single punch at Mr Crook but the force of the blow knocked him unconscious and he was taken to hospital for checks.

Yesterday at Perth Sheriff Court, Taylor admitted assault and his act of sibling support cost him a £400 fine.

Taylor, of Bracken Brae, Perth, admitted assaulting and injuring William Crook by punching him on the head in South Street, Perth, on November 22 last year.

Depute fiscal Stuart Richardson told the court: “It was 3.15am, at closing time for the nightclub. Mr Crook was standing outside on the pavement.

“Mr Taylor punched him once, but that had the effect of knocking him to the ground and he momentarily lost consciousness. He was apprehended at the scene.

“His reply to the charge maybe gives a reason for the attack.”

Taylor had told police: “He touched my sister’s a*** and I knocked him out.”

Solicitor David Holmes, defending, said: “His sister is 19 and was also in The Loft, the same establishment as Mr Crook.

“She saw Mr Crook and he was passing a remark in favourable terms about her appearance from behind,” added Mr Richardson.

“His sister is younger than him and he felt protective towards her.”
