Demolition was first for Didcot firm
The business tasked with demolishing a defunct power station which collapsed was appointed after a “thorough” process, despite revealing they have “never done anything like this.”
Coleman & Company, a specialist Birmingham-based firm, were awarded the contract to dismantle the Didcot A site in Oxfordshire by RWE npower.
On Tuesday at around 4pm, while workers were preparing the building for demolition, it collapsed – killing one, trapping three and injuring five.
Emergency services said it is “highly unlikely” that the three trapped people who are now missing will be found alive.
