It takes guts to recreate the magic of a TV show on stage.

On the other hand, it shows how confident the producers are that the popularity of the show for pre-schoolers can transfer into the live arena.

Welcome to Peppa Pig’s Surprise, a touring stage version that aims to get kids singing and giggling

Parents of young children will undoubtedly have come across the Peppa Pig animated TV series – or are at least familiar with its theme tune – directed and produced by Astley Baker Davies. To date, four series have been aired.

The plot is, as the name suggests, a surprise. But a riot of multicoloured, cuddly-looking puppets with floppy arms and moveable mouths are promised.

They stand on wheeled bases, so the miked-up performers can push them around a colourful set. Pre-schoolers are sure to love it.
