Perth Symphony Orchestra
Perth Concert Hall February 27
With the Perth Concert Hall providing professional orchestral performances of the highest quality, it is left to ensembles like the Perth Symphony Orchestra (PSO) to show that music in an amateur capacity is just as entertaining.
This Sunday they will perform a selection of music from Bizet, Rossini and Malcolm Arnold in a concert dedicated to the memory of cellist Stephen Chorley.
The first half of the programme will consist of an orchestration of the best music from Carmen, arranged by the composer’s friend Ernest Guiraud, Arnold’s Tam o’ Shanter and the overture to William Tell, the last of Rossini’s 39 operas.
After the interval, PSO members will be joined by some of the Perth Youth Orchestra in a performance of classics from stage and screen.
The ensemble will be conducted by Allan Young, with leader Lorna McGovern.
