After all the problems at last year’s Strathallan Castle debut, T in the Park needed to win back fans with the strongest possible line-up.

And on that front, DF Concerts have certainly delivered.

The bill, featuring headline sets from the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Stone Roses, is possibly T’s most impressive programme for a while.

Established acts like Travis, Kaiser Chiefs and Disclosure are guaranteed to go down a storm, while Brit Award favourites Catfish and the Bottlemen, Jess Glynne and James Bay will be warmly welcomed.

And it’s good to see edgier artists like LCD Soundsystem, Major Lazer, Jamie XX and John Grant getting back on the bill.

Recent T in the Parks have seen a move towards the poppier end of the market, which has admittedly irked older fans like myself who remember the first festival at Strathclyde Park, where Oasis played football with the crowd, Jarvis Cocker complained about the noise of The Levellers on the main stage and Cypress Hill had to perform a scaled-down set because some of their members and equipment got held-up at customs.

The line-up may win over the fans, but before music can be played, T in the Park still has to win the trust of councillors to secure the all-important public entertainment licence.
