New clue in hunt for missing OAP
POLICE: New sighting of 70-year-old Perth man is investigated by officers
A new sighting of a pensioner who has been missing for more than a week is being investigated by police.
Robert McLaren was reported missing from Appin Terrace in the Letham area of Perth last Thursday.
It was believed the 70-year-old had last been seen on February 19 but police have revealed he was spotted the following day at the Rannoch Road shops, around half a mile from his home.
The pensioner is known to suffer from diabetes and police have previously expressed concern for his health.
Additional officers were drafted in on Saturday to help with the search.
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “We have now established that Robert was last seen at the Rannoch Road shops in Perth at 8.08am on Saturday February 20, and at this time was wearing a black donkey jacket, a beige baseball cap with a white motif on the front, blue jeans or trousers and brown shoes.
“Officers are carrying out houseto-house inquiries and will be asking residents if they have any information that could assist them with their inquiries.
“Police are also identifying CCTV opportunities in the area and would welcome assistance from local businesses or residents who may have private CCTV.
“There are significant concerns for Robert’s welfare and anyone who knows him or has seen a man matching his description is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.”
Mr McLaren is 5ft 7in, of large build, has a pale complexion and a balding head with short grey hair around the sides.
He has connections to the Coupar Angus area and is known to walk in the area of Jeanfield Road and the North Inch, Perth.
Police have asked local residents to check sheds, garages and outbuildings for any signs that someone might have taken refuge in them.
