Message in a Bottle given boost

-

People from Perth and Kinross Council’s community payback team have helped a scheme that provides emergency services.

The group took part in the Message in a Bottle initiative, which works by storing a person’s details in a small airtight plastic container that is kept in their fridge.

Inside the containers, a form gives personal and GP details, general medical conditions, medications, emergency contact persons and details of any pets in the home.

NHS Tayside decided to replenish their stock of the containers and approached the community payback team for assistance to prepare the bottles.

Yesterday Jackie Doe, project manager at Perth and Kinross healthy communities collaborative, said: “The community payback team could not have been more helpful. We are extremely grateful to the team for carrying out this work for us to enable the Message in a Bottle scheme to be restocked without delay.”

The Message in a Bottle emergency information scheme was initially launched in Perth and Kinross in 1998.

The bottles are available free of charge from GP surgeries, social work offices, sheltered housing wardens or by contacting Healthy Communities on 01738 473718.

Anyone interested in using the services of the community payback team should call 01738 476173 or email cjs@pkc.gov. uk.
