Police deny any incident
Residents in the Balgillo Road area of Broughty Ferry were on high alert yesterday when numerous police units arrived just after 4pm.
It was thought that a manhunt may have been in progress.
But Police Scotland, denied there had been any activity in the area.
One witness said: “I saw a number of police cars on Rossie Avenue and Westerton Avenue and then a police van.
“A short time later there were bobbies on foot walking the streets.
“They were highly visible for about half-anhour to 45 minutes.”
Another witness reported that officers had told him only that they were searching for “a man in a beige jacket”.
Locals took to social media to question the heavy police presence.
One posted simply: “Why are there so many police vehicles in Balgillo Road.”
A police spokesman denied there was an ongoing incident, suggesting community officers may have been carrying out inquiries into an earlier incident.
