How you can take part

-

The organisers of The Mother Load hope visitors to the exhibition will be able to find their own network of support and emphasise it’s not just about mothers but about finding ways to reach out to their communities and make connections.

With this in mind, part of the Sleep While The Baby Sleeps project is interactive, and Simone is looking for people to take part by joining in with their Instagram installation and submitting photos of their own children while they sleep.

Just upload an image of your child when they’re asleep, tag it with #tmldundeesleep, and include a sentence starting: “While you were sleeping I was….” and fill in what you were doing at the time. Your account will need to be public for 10 minutes to pull the image in, but you can switch it back straight after that.

To be shown in the gallery as part of the artwork, make sure the image is public for 30 minutes and use the hashtag #tmldundeesleep. You can then revert back to a private account, and the images will still appear in the artwork.

To protect the privacy of the person in your photograph, think about using Instagram filters such as the tilt shift. You can post as many times as you like, and the photos don’t have to be current.
