Threatening video is ‘disturbing’: father
Police: Online warning over Allan Bryan Jr is under investigation
The father of missing Fife man Allan Bryant has condemned those behind a chilling video threat to police.
A video uploaded to YouTube purports to come from global hacktivists Anonymous, and warns Police Scotland in general and Glenrothes HQ in particular, that they will initiate their own justice “against you and your officers” if the force does not do more to have the culprits who may have harmed Allan brought to justice.
A disguised voice tells the force: “We are aware of your lack of cooperation with the family of missing man Allan Bryant Jr. As civil servants, it is your responsibility to serve the needs of your public.
“All you have done is failed the Bryant family.”
Police Scotland confirmed they are investigating.
A spokesperson said: “Police in Fife have been made aware of a communication that suggests reprisals towards officers in Glenrothes.
“Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding this and respond appropriately.”
The video has been condemned by Allan’s father, Allan Bryant Sr, who is convinced it was not the work of the real Anonymous, but of someone who has their own gripe against the police and has hijacked the family’s heartfelt campaign.
“No one has the right to threaten the police, I am not going to accept that and am always going to condemn that,” he said.
“This is not helping Allan at all – the only thing is this has got his name back out in the media, but for the wrong reasons.
“We have been victims of trolling, and no one should be trolling police.
“I do not believe for one second it is the real Anonymous.”
Allan was last seen in the early hours of Sunday November 3 2013 leaving Styx nightclub in Glenrothes.
The family have sometimes been critical of the police’s investigation into his disappearance.
“I’ve been far from happy with the way the police have investigated my son’s case, I believe they messed it up from day one, that will never change, but this video is not acceptable,” said Mr Bryant.
